The Noblesville boys golf team began its season Saturday by winning the Yorktown Invitational at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.
The Millers scored 300, ahead of runner-up New Castle’s 316 and Muncie Central’s 326. Noblesville had the individual medalist: Senior Clay Merchent carded a seven-under par 65.
All five of the golfers in the Millers’ lineup were seniors, and they all had solid scores. Joe Whallon carded a 75, including a two-under par performance on the back nine. Also scoring for Noblesville were Jacob Deakyne 77, Jaxon Stutz 83 and Chris Scheib 84.
“A great way to start our season with a win,” said Millers coach Gary Sewell. “And it makes it even better that we were able to do it at the regional course.”
