Noblesville advanced to the championship game with a 6-3 win over Hamilton Southeastern in the first semi-final Monday morning. The game was played in front of a record crowd, with 4,000 people at Don Dunker Field to support the Millers after the shooting at Noblesville West Middle School.
Noblesville got on the board first, with two runs in the fourth inning. Ethan Imel batted in DJ Owens with a left field hit, then Jacob Thieman was sent home after Tyler Owens drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Royals responded with three runs in the top of the fifth. Jacob Daftari’s right field line drive sent Anthony Eggers and Cole DeWael in to score. Brayton Harrison then hit a single into center field, and that scored Cole Graverson.
But the Millers came right back, with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Bryce Randolph’s right field single got Mark Goudy home, Reese Sharp singled in DJ Owens, and Imel hit a double to score Randolph and Camden Nagel (who was pinch running for Sharp).
Imel finished the game 2-for-3, with three RBIs. Tyler Owens went four and a third innings for the pitching win.
Eggers, DeWael and Harrison all had two hits for HSE, which finished its season 13-16.
