As Federal Hill Commons approaches its second year of programming, the Noblesville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce another action-packed season with free concerts and events for all ages at the urban downtown park.
“Our goal with this schedule is to continue and build off the momentum and excitement from the inaugural year of Federal Hill Commons,” said Parks Director Brandon Bennett. “In addition to the previously announced concert series of Concert at the Commons and Flashback Friday, we’ve incorporated new events based on the community feedback we received and brought back popular events as well.”
This year’s event season kicks off with the second Salsa for Salsa Cinco de Mayo event with salsa tastings from area restaurants, a Salsa band and margarita garden. Other returning events include Food Truck Fridays, a Foam Party, free weekend concerts and other family-friendly events. The 2018 schedule of events includes:
- May 5 – Cinco de Mayo + Salsa for Salsa; 6 to 9 p.m.
- May 5 – Noblesville Main Street Farmer’s Market Opens (runs 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday through Oct. 13)
- May 19 – Concert at the Commons: Rod Tuffcurls + The Benchpress with Ripple Effect
- June 2 – Concert at the Commons: 16 Candles with Cosmic Situation
- June 9 – Foam Party; 3 to 5 p.m.
- June 30 – Concert at the Commons: Separate Ways with Edward Zlaty’s “The Cause”
- July 1 – 38th Infantry US Army Band; 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- July 7 – Concert at the Commons: Karen Waldrup with Emily Rhodes
- July 8 – Aug. 19 – Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) Band Concerts Series; 6:30 p.m. Sundays
- July 26-28 and Aug. 2-4 – Shakespeare in the Park presented by NCAC; 8:30 p.m.
- 10 – Flashback Friday: Classic Rock Experience with Meraki the Band
- 18 – Concert at the Commons: Flying Toasters with Sam King
- 24 – Flashback Friday: The Four Freshmen with Edward Zlaty’s “GMH Jazz Orchestra”
- 25 – Rotary BrewBQ; 4 to 8 p.m.
- 14 – Flashback Friday: Mike and Joe with Carmel School of Rock House Band
- 28 – Flashback Friday: Hairbanger’s Ball with Ripple Effect
Food Truck Fridays will return to Federal Hill Commons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May through September on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. The lunchtime event includes five to seven food trucks providing specialty meals and desserts with live acoustic music from Craig Thurston. A new evening event, Wine Down with Art, will take place at the Market Plaza from 7 to 9 p.m. May 4, July 6 and Sept. 7, as well as, on June 1 at the Downtown North Alley. It includes food trucks and wineries allowing patrons to enjoy dinner in the park while viewing artwork from local artists on display.
