Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, the Noblesville Fire Department responded to a residence fire in the 500 block of Cherry Street. The first units on scene encountered heavy smoke conditions and zero visibility. Units were able to locate the fire in the kitchen area and quickly advanced a hose line to bring the fire under control.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was first noticed by a neighbor who saw the smoke and flames coming from the back of the house and called 911.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters; however, three pets succumbed to the heavy smoke and high heat conditions.
Damage from the fire is estimated at $60,000. The Noblesville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Noblesville Police Department.
