No. 4 Millers notch big road win at No. 6 Fort Wayne Northrop

The Millers faced another tough opponent this week and had to do it on the road two hours north in Fort Wayne. Noblesville righted the ship after it lost its first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game this past Wednesday to Hamilton Southeastern by overcoming a physical Northrop squad for a 59-52 win late Saturday afternoon.

The Bruins led after one quarter 13-12, but it was just the beginning of a Miller duo that would get hot.

Reagan Wilson scored eight of the 12 first quarter points to help keep the Bruins honest.

The second quarter was where Noblesville leaned on Dani Mendez. The senior forward muscled her way to eight of her 11 points in the period and more importantly, the Millers were able to grab the lead at halftime, 25-23.

Northrop came out in defense of its home floor in the third. Down two to start the period, the Bruins went on a run and were up eight twice in the middle to latter part of the period and were tied with the Millers 41-41 after three.

After leaving with an injury early in Wednesday’s game, Meredith Tippner was poised to get back into action. She scored seven in the third to get back to normal.

Wilson would have another dominating quarter to help the Millers seal the deal in the fourth, scoring nine of the Noblesville 18 that would propel them to a 59-52 top 10 road win.

Noblesville was able to out rebound Northrop 31-29 and it also forced 18 Bruin turnovers, 16 of those were steals.

Reagan Wilson and Meredith Tippner tied for game-high honors with 20 points each. Wilson also had three steals and shot four for six from three-point range. Tippner was able to grab nine boards while adding five steals to her credit. Dani Mendez finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Noblesville (7-2) will hit the road again on Friday in a crucial HCC game at No. 7 Fishers (8-2).
