Duke Energy has climbed aboard the Nickel Plate Express, supporting the non-profit organization as a 2018 launch sponsor.
Duke Energy has awarded a $40,000 sponsorship to Nickel Plate Express, giving a nod to the utility’s late 19th century roots. Known then as the Interstate Public Service Company, the company provided power to Indiana’s emerging interurban electric passenger train service.
“We are proud to support the mission of the Nickel Plate Express, whose goal is to educate and entertain visitors using Indiana’s history, while promoting career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math disciplines,” said Mark LaBarr, Duke Energy government and community relations manager for Hamilton County.
“We are grateful to receive sponsorship from a company as philanthropic as Duke Energy,” said Executive Director Deanna Holt. “Their generous donation has been instrumental in helping us bring this historic, moving experience to northern Hamilton County.”
