The Nickel Plate Express is back on track this Independence Day after a three-month hiatus.

The Nickel Plate Express returns to the Noblesville 4th of July Festival for a second year, offering rides at both Forest Park and Bolden’s Dry Cleaners on the square this year. Tickets are $10 (no charge for children ages 2 and younger) and should be purchased in advance at NickelPlateExpress.com.

Rides depart from Bolden’s at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Excursions depart Forest Park at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Those interested in a longer ride can climb aboard the Independence Express Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for an hour-long ride and slice of apple pie.

“The Nickel Plate Express team is thrilled to celebrate our return to the rails and Independence Day in the heart of downtown Noblesville,” said Dagny Zupin, Nickel Plate Express director. “As the world returns to a new normal, Nickel Plate Express is committed to doing our part to provide the safest possible experience for guests. We encourage our passengers to do the same and practice respect for their fellow passengers.”

Nickel Plate Express has worked closely with the Hamilton County Health Department to create a safe environment for all passengers. Excursions will operate at 50 percent capacity to observe proper social distance between passengers. Additionally, Nickel Plate Express employees will wear masks and sanitize frequently touched surfaces in between each excursion, per CDC guidelines. All passengers are strongly encouraged to wear masks to protect themselves and others. For a full list of new polices aboard the Nickel Plate Express, visit NickelPlateExpress.com.
