Liz Hamstra
Liz Hamstra is a multi-talented artist from Fishers. She graduated from Herron School of Art and Design with a BFA degree, specializing in ceramics, photography, and art history. Her passion for art and creativity is evident in her vast body of work that spans across various mediums and genres.
With 10 years of experience teaching art at the Indianapolis Art Center, Hamstra has emerged as an accomplished teacher and mentor to several of her students. Her commitment to teaching and sharing her knowledge has helped push her own personal artwork in many directions.
In the past two years, Hamstra’s focus has shifted towards two new projects – hand-painted guitars and large mandalas with abstract designs. Her hand-painted guitars are a unique blend of music and art brought to life with the help of her husband. Her large mandala abstract designs are characterized by bold and bright colors and are a testament to her versatility in exploring different art forms. These works are on display in her exhibit, “Neon Electric Moon,” for the month of June at Nickel Plate Arts.
Hamstra’s work has been showcased in several exhibitions and galleries and has gained recognition for its intricate detailing and high-quality craftsmanship. Her passion for creating art that ignites emotions and inspires creativity is evident in her work. For her future plans, she would like to explore larger mural paintings on non-traditional surfaces.
See Hamstra’s full exhibit, “Neon Electric Moon,” in the Stephenson House on the Nickel Plate Arts campus from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
