Nicholas Eugene “Nick” Delp

April 23, 1973 – June 8, 2021

Nicholas Eugene “Nick” Delp, 48, passed away at his home in Sheridan on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Nick was born on April 23, 1973 in Noblesville to Kenneth Leroy and Deborah Jean (Isaacs) Delp. He was a 1991 graduate of Sheridan High School.

Nick had a gift for working with powerful machines, both large and small. He was a self-employed mechanic and heavy equipment operator who recently landed his dream gig – working for Troy Cox Racing. From a young age, Nick and his family loved following drag racing. His love of speed combined with a passion for working with specialized machines made Nick a welcome member for his new race family.

It wasn’t all work and no play for Nick. As much as he loved his career, he also enjoyed his time away. If it was to be done outdoors, then Nick would usually give it a go. He loved to fish, get lost in the woods for hours looking for mushrooms, and never missed a chance to go camping. Nick lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger and tried to have as good a time as he possibly could.

Nick is survived by his parents, Kenneth Leroy and Deborah Jean (Isaacs) Delp, Sheridan; son, Nathan Ronald Delp, Sheridan; brother, Kenneth Lowell Delp (Jody Michelle), Evansville; sister, Angeline Michele Miller (Michael), Sheridan; niece, Margaret Elizabeth Delp; and nephews, Wesley Foster Delp and Newt Leroy Miller.

Nick is also survived by Roscoe, his dog and best friend. Everybody who knew Nick knew Roscoe and his beautiful brown eyes.

Private family services are being planned. Nick will be laid to rest at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
