NHS girls soccer hosts Cathedral on Monday

The Noblesville girls soccer team will open its season on Monday by hosting Cathedral.
The Millers are ranked No. 3 in the pre-season Class 3A poll, behind No. 1 Carmel and No. 2 Penn (the defending state champion). Noblesville is coming off a successful season last year, winning the Hoosier Crossroads Conference title, then defending sectional and regional championships before falling to Penn in the semi-state.
“Playing one of the toughest schedules in the state, we want to improve each game and be the best team we can be come sectional time,” said Millers coach Mike Brady.
“We have a number of players who will start for us that didn’t last year, so we’re still learning each other’s tendencies, and when we understand them better, so will our chance to be successful night in and night out,” said Brady. “Eleven players on the field, functioning as one single unit: Millers, Millers, Millers – no one more important than the other.”
Seniors on this year’s Noblesville team are Ashleigh Mathias, Lauren Chatterton, Ashleigh Gutknecht, Ellie Jensen, Ashlyn Morefield, Jewell Hensley, Cecilia Goad, Mackenzie Pedigo, Ashlyn Tucker, Jada Hensley, Autumn Strong and Keely Hoopingarner.
Noblesville will also play Wednesday at 3A No. 4 Brebeuf Jesuit, then travel to West Lafayette on Saturday.
