NHS girls lacrosse falls to Zionsville in close game

The Noblesville lacrosse team hosted Zionsville on Tuesday.
The Millers varsity team battled back and forth with the Eagles, ultimately losing an exciting game 10-9. Zionsville scored two goals during the first minute. Noblesville kept within shouting distance and scored a last-second goal to finish the first half; Emma Hammond found the back of the net with Chloe Barnett making the assist. That kept the Millers within 7-6 at halftime.
Noblesville quickly tied the game at 7-7 to start the second half on a goal from Isabel Imes. The Eagles jumped ahead 10-8 with over 14 minutes to play, but the Millers wouldn’t let them score again. Noblesville cut the lead to 10-9 with 1:22 left; Barnett scored off a Marisha Woehler assist. Maddie Reel made a big save with 50 seconds left and Noblesville had one more chance, but fell short.
Hammond scored three goals, with Barnett adding two goals and one assist. Nataley Blackburn had one goal and two assists, while Imes and Woehler both had one goal and one assists. Maya Hill scored one goal. As a team, the Millers had 10 forced turnovers, and Reel finished with six saves and one interception.
Noblesville is 4-5 and plays Assumption (Ky.) Saturday at Bishop Chatard.
The Millers’ Junior Varsity Black team won 12-5, with eight different players scoring. Kateyn Seyfried had three goals, while Maddie Frost and Lyrric Barnett both scored twice. Goalkeeper Adi Terry made six saves and picked up two ground balls. Noblesville improved to 4-3 and travels to Brebeuf Jesuit on Saturday to play in the fifth annual JV Metro Invitational Tournament.
