NFD promotes Ben Patchett to Engineer

The Noblesville Fire Department has announced that Firefighter Ben Patchett has been promoted to the merit rank of Engineer.

Patchett

Patchett was hired by the City of Noblesville in 2010. His first duty day as an Engineer was Tuesday, assuming the spot vacated by Engineer Ben Bender, who retired last week. He has been a certified Driver Operator since 2013 and will be responsible for operating Engine 371, which is housed at NFD headquarters, located at 135 S. 9th St.

As an Engineer, Patchett will be responsible for transporting firefighters, carrying equipment, and pumping water to interior crews at fire scenes. Engineers make sure vehicles are clean and run effectively and that all systems are operational. They also perform routine maintenance on their apparatus.

“Merit based promotions such as Ben’s are very competitive and require a good deal of effort to achieve,” said NFD Chief Greg Wyant. “I congratulate Ben on his promotion and the hard work he put in obtaining it.”
