Two home runs from Reese Newsom helped to power the Noblesville softball team past Western Boone 4-3 in a Thursday home game.
Both teams scored a run in the second inning. Newsom led off the bottom of that inning with a leadoff homer over the left field fence.
The Stars scored a run in the top of the fourth to lead 2-1, but the Millers came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Maggie Kern tied the game after scoring on a wild pitch, then Nevaeh Nash sent a bunt into left field to bring home Addi Emmerson.
WeBo tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth inning. But Newsom stepped up again, smacking her second home run of the game; this one flying over the center field fence. The Stars got two runners on base in the seventh inning, but Emme Yee got a strikeout for the third out.
Emmerson also had two hits during the game. Yee pitched a complete game, striking out four and allowing four hits.
Noblesville is 2-0 and is scheduled to host Greenfield-Central at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.
