New tunnel mural to be unveiled on Monon Greenway in Carmel

The City of Carmel will hold an unveiling ceremony on Monday, Sept. 27 for Ethereal Rhapsody, a mural along the Monon Greenway inside the pedestrian tunnel under City Center Drive.

Join Mayor Jim Brainard, Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation Director Michael Klitzing, Carmel Clay Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Beresford, Carmel High School Art Department Chair Jen Bubp, John-Michael Polly of O.N.E. Consulting, LLC, and Carmel High School student artist Caroline Hammonds at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27 next to the Monon Greenway on the east side of the Palladium, south of the pedestrian tunnel under City Center Drive in Carmel.

Ethereal Rhapsody, the winning design, was created by Hammonds and features musical elements within an Indiana sunset. Hammonds was listening to classical music and the song “Girl of the Year” by musical duo Beach House when she was inspired to create a piece that would hold the beauty of a state that doesn’t have mountains or oceans, but is equally picturesque.
