New records set at HCC cross country meet

It was a record-setting day at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, which took place Saturday at Noblesville’s Chinquapin Ridge Cross Country Course.
New meet records were set in both the boys and the girls races. Hamilton Southeastern’s Gabe Fendel set a new mark in the boys race, running home in 15:17.45, a full 17 seconds ahead of second place.
Fishers won the team meet, scoring 41 points and placing three runners in the top 10. Sam Kuhn was the individual runner-up, with Ethan Meyer taking fourth and Will Clark finishing 10th. Westfield placed fourth and had two top-10 runners: Nick Leahy placed fifth and Samuel Novak took eighth.
Noblesville’s top runner was Zachary Freeman, who finished 21st.
In the girls race, Zionsville won the team championship with 59 points, led by Sophia Rigg’s new record time of 17:45.97. Hamilton Southeastern was a close second by scoring 64 points.
Lulu Black and Halle Hill led the Royals, placing fourth and fifth respectively. Lilly Cummins also landed in the top 10, taking ninth. Fishers was fourth as a team, with Debbie Shera finishing 10th.
Noblesville’s Abi Little was sixth for the Millers, while Westfield’s Gabby Dilick took seventh.
