The Hamilton Southeastern Board of School Trustees has unanimously approved the appointment of Michael Ryan as the new principal of Fall Creek Junior High School.

The decision comes after a lengthy search for a permanent replacement following the departure of Stacey Swan, who accepted another school leadership position in a neighboring district back in July.

Ryan

Since 2021, Ryan has been instrumental in overseeing student attendance and discipline with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. In his current capacity as assistant principal, his dedication also extends to ensuring building safety measures and providing comprehensive staff training.

Notably, Ryan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, working specifically with students in grades 7 and 8. He previously served as a middle school grade-level principal in Brownsburg Community Schools for seven years. During that time, Brownsburg West Middle School was designated a National Blue Ribbon School. Ryan is credited with using data to properly assign and track students’ academic and behavioral success, while also overseeing professional development opportunities for staff.

“We are confident that Mr. Ryan’s proven track record and familiarity with the FCJ community will be invaluable as he takes on the responsibilities of principal,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Matt Kegley said. “His leadership style and dedication to academic success make him an excellent fit for this role, and we look forward to witnessing the continued positive impact he will have on Fall Creek Junior High School.”

Ryan has also served as a teacher and coach throughout his 18-year career in public education.

“I am excited to transition into the principal role at Fall Creek Junior High and continue serving our school community,” Ryan said. “We have tremendous students, supportive parents and hard-working staff that make FCJ a truly special place to work and learn.”

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics education from Purdue University and a master’s degree in education administration from Ball State University.

He will officially begin in his new role on Jan. 8, 2024.
