Friday night before the New Earth Festival, the Town of Atlanta usually blocks off the streets to let vendors set everything up for a weekend that packs tens of thousands of people into that tiny town. This year, the remnants of Hurricane Helene made Friday night far too windy for most vendors. More than 70,000 people were without power Friday night when winds whipped across the state. In Atlanta, with a bit of patience as everyone set up Saturday morning, Friday wind and weekend rain was not nearly enough to dampen the spirits of New Earth fans from far and wide.
