The Guerin Catholic volleyball team has a new coach this season, but also has several solid returning players.
Ashley Pertile takes over as coach of the Golden Eagles this year. She will supervise a team that has many upperclassmen, most of them juniors. There are six returners from last year, who have experience in all phases of the game.
Senior Megan Hook is back as Guerin’s libero, while senior Molly Witt and junior Emily Zlatniski return as middle hitters for GC. Two more juniors, Jasmine Wolfgram and Kathryn Reifel are back as outside hitters and will also help out with the defense. Sophomore Ashley Utnage returns as the team’s setter.
“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to coach this group of players,” said Pertile. “They have been working hard this summer and have developed an awesome bond. My seniors have taken the lead this summer and given the entire program weekly quotes, scripture readings, and goals to bring us all closer. My coaching staff and I feel very blessed to be able to come into the gym and watch these girls continue to get better and work towards their goals as a team.”
The Golden Eagles open their season Monday at Heritage Christian.
