Imagine your excitement if you found out you were going to get to do something you always dreamed of doing, but just never had the opportunity.

Janus recently received a grant from the CIBA (Central Indiana Bicycling Association) Foundation to purchase seven bicycles for its clients. Some of Janus’ clients have only had the opportunity to observe others enjoying the joy of bike riding.

Now, thanks to CIBA and Randy Clark, who is the owner/founder of Bicycle Garage Indy and BGI Fitness, Janus’ clients will enjoy the benefits associated with bicycle riding. Learning to ride a bicycle increases self-esteem and self-confidence and provides another opportunity to exercise and improve stamina.

Clients will participate in safety instruction and cycling learning activities prior to riding, and helmets will be required. This project addresses the “safe cycling” aspect of CIBA’s mission statement.

The staff at Janus is particularly excited about this new program since the Midland Trail runs right behind Janus, providing a beautiful, safe place to ride. Plans are in the works to build a sidewalk that will provide safe access to the trail for clients to use for hiking and now bicycling adventures.

Janus is especially appreciative of Randy Clark, who is also a CIBA Board Member, for the expertise he provided when the equipment and additional necessary equipment was ordered, such as helmets, a tire pump, lights, etc. As soon as the bikes arrive, Randy is not only bringing the bicycles to Janus, but he is also providing an employee who will assemble the bikes at no charge.

The staff and clients of Janus are excited about this new Bike Program and look forward to seeing where these new adventures will take them.
