Neal Godby named Sheridan Alumnus of the Year

Sheridan Community Schools Alumnus of the Year is Neal Godby. Neal Godby graduated from Marion-Adams-Sheridan High School in 1957. He was recognized as valedictorian of his graduating class, was a member of the State Champion 4-H Dairy Judging Team in 1954, and received varsity letters in basketball and track. His post-secondary education includes a Bachelors degree from Ball State University and a graduate degree from the University of Michigan.

In his early career, he was a teacher and coach in Michigan and then his education and experiences led him to a career in public administration as a city manager and later Chief Administrative Officer for the State of Michigan. He was responsible for customs and border agents in the Sault Ste. Marie area working with governments in Ontario, Canada and Michigan. He has received several honors for his career work. Mr. Godby retired in 2000.

He and his wife Marge have been married for 52 years and they have three wonderful children. Mr. Godby will be honored at the 130th Commencement of Sheridan High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2. The Alumnus of the Year is selected annually from nominations submitted to Sheridan High School and the Marion-Adams-Sheridan High School Alumni Association.
