Navigating the Journey: free event for parents & caregivers at Anderson Museum of Art

Submitted by AMOA

The Anderson Museum of Art (AMOA) invites parents, caregivers, and community members to join for Navigating the Journey, an inspiring and interactive evening focused on autism awareness, creativity, and connection.

Sherron

In the Grand Room Gallery from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, this free event features guest speaker Marya Patrice Sherron, MFA, a writer, advocate, and community leader passionately dedicated to uplifting marginalized voices and fostering inclusivity. Her work has been widely recognized, including her children’s books, which are featured in the Indianapolis Airport’s Sensory Rooms as a tribute to autistic individuals.

In 2024, she launched KI Productions’ Neurodivergent Collection, a robust platform that celebrates and shares the stories of neurodivergent individuals and families. The collection serves as a beacon for education, awareness, and advocacy, driving meaningful change in how neurodiversity is viewed and supported.

In addition to an Autism Awareness Presentation by Sherron, the evening will include a hands-on interactive art activity led by AMOA’s own Nick Martin, offering guests a chance to reflect, create, and connect through artistic expression.

This event is part of AMOA’s ongoing commitment to using the arts for holistic health and well-being. Through programs that support emotional, social, and cognitive development, AMOA continues to create welcoming spaces where art inspires healing and connection for people of all ages.

This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure AMOA can best accommodate all attendees. The first 20 guests to pre-register will receive a signed copy of Marya’s book, What If My Pieces Don’t Fit.
