On Saturday, July 8, Bach to Rock Fishers held its Summer Showcase at the Basile Westfield Playhouse, 220 N. Union St., Westfield.

A total of 21 performers took the stage that day to share their musical achievements with their families and peers and enjoy the opportunity to perform in a professional venue. At Bach to Rock, performance opportunities are paramount to a holistic music education.

While more informal opportunities are offered throughout the year for soloists and ensembles to perform, Showcase is a special event only put on twice a year for private lesson students. It is an absolute highlight of the summer to see these young musicians bravely perform and share their talents on stage, and the Playhouse is the perfect setting for this musical occasion.

Each student who performs prepared a song and was introduced by fabulous Event Coordinator Ms. Rachel Mason. Students performed on their unique instruments a vast variety of genres. Parents and audience members alike enjoyed hearing everything from an elementary drummer rocking out to his favorite Imagine Dragons song, to a talented young guitarist who played his first original song, to several amazing pianists sharing classics like Mozart’s Sonata in C, Chopin’s Waltz in D flat, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

From violin and upright bass to vocalists and percussionists, it’s always wonderful to see the diverse music education that Bach to Rock offers come to life at the Summer Showcase.
