The Fishers softball team won its season opener on Tuesday, beating Class 3A defending state champion Tri-West 3-0 at the Tigers field.
Senior Kate Murray had a dominant game for Fishers. She got the Tigers on the board in the fourth inning with a solo home run, then smacked a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Azstryd Alexander also scored in the sixth inning.
Fishers collected six hits during the game. Brooke Clayton hit a double, while Frankie Jackson, Anna McGrath and Alexander all hit one single.
Murray was just as tough inside the pitcher’s circle. She threw a complete game, striking out 10 while allowing only four hits.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday, playing their first away game of the season at Warren Central.
