Mrs. Noblesville’s comfort zone challenge

Jenna Stewart, 42, is Mrs. Noblesville 2018. In April she will compete to become Mrs. Indiana America, and the winner of that pageant will go on to try for Mrs. America in Las Vegas next summer. Stewart has never been in a pageant before and calls this experience a “comfort zone challenge and a personal development challenge.”

Mrs. America is a pageant established to honor married women throughout the United States. Each of the contestants from the 50 states and the District of Columbia range in age from 20s to 50s. They earn the right to participate in the national event by winning their state competition.

Stewart credits her niece for pushing her to become Mrs. Noblesville and setting her on the road to compete for the title of Mrs. Indiana America.

“I have a niece, Natalie, who went to Purdue. Her freshman year we started to give each other comfort zone challenges because she was moving into this new life, going on her own as a college freshman,” Stewart told The Reporter.

After a few rounds of challenges involving small steps out of each of their comfort zones, with the goal of personal development, they had to take it to the next level.

“We had to figure out what the next thing was going to be,” Stewart said. “I am doing this pageant in spring and she is launching her own YouTube channel.”

Stewart is a mother of two children, a lawyer and a voting rights issue advocate for the League of Women Voters in Indiana. She is a member of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Committee and says she is very happy to have lived in Noblesville for the last two decades.

“My husband and I have been married for 20 years, Stewart said. “We love Hamilton County and we love Noblesville. I think Noblesville is a very family-friendly town. There are a lot of great things to do. We really appreciate Noblesville Main Street, the City of Noblesville and all of the family-friendly activities: the skating rink, Christmas on the Square, the Santa house. There is always an event going on regardless of the season to engage the community. We always feel like there are local activities to participate in with our kids and with our friends and neighbors.”

Her platform in the Mrs. Indiana America competition is focused on encouraging civic engagement.

“I am an issue advocate for the League of Women Voters of Indiana; civic engagement is something that is personally important to me,” Stewart told The Reporter. “It’s about the importance of every citizen’s privilege and responsibility being citizens of a democracy. We all have a second job and that is our civic engagement. To keep up with issues, to vote, to observe our elected officials and to pay attention to what they are doing.”

She told The Reporter she welcomes opportunities to speak to organizations and school groups about civic engagement, as she recently did at a local high school.

“I had a great opportunity to speak with Carmel High School students last week,” Stewart said. “Their Amnesty International group had a ‘hunger banquet’ and they came to speak about voting rights.”

Sponsorship is part of the preparation for the pageant with which Stewart could use your help.

“I’m currently being sponsored by friends and family,” Stewart said. “We will list our sponsors in a brochure that will be distributed at the pageant in April and will also be available online at mrsindianaamerica.com. I’m in communication with local businesses regarding sponsorship opportunities and would welcome communication about sponsorship.”
