December 9, 1937 – August 6, 2021
Mrs. Carolyn (Joyce) Allen Chance, 83, Westfield, went to be with Christ her Savior in Heaven, August 6, 2021 at her earthly, deeply loved home of Magnolia Springs Senior Living at Bridgewater. A joyful, devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Carolyn was born on December 9, 1937 to David Beecher Allen and Dorothy (Trees) Allen in Frankfort, Ind.
She attended Little Jeff School in Clinton County, Ind., and graduated in 1956 with a class of nine! She went on to attend Purdue University majoring in home economics and earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1960. It was during her time at Purdue where she met her husband, Dr. Ronald Eugene Chance. They were happily married for 53 years. Following college, Carolyn was a Home Economics teacher in Kokomo, Ind. Ron and Carolyn raised two children and were very involved in their lives between supporting them in sporting events and 4-H projects. In the later years of her life, Carolyn enjoyed attending her granddaughter’s sporting and flag events and her and Ron’s annual trips to Bonita Springs, Fla.
Yet, despite these facts of Carolyn’s life, her greatest attribute was her indescribable, genuine faith in Jesus Christ. If you knew Carolyn personally you would know she left no doubt of where her hope was found. She never hesitated to share the Gospel with anyone she came in contact with. Impacting the faith of so many, Carolyn never ceased in prayer writing daily on note cards for family, friends and strangers. If there is one thing Carolyn would want those she has left on this earth to know, it would be these two equations:
Jesus Christ + Nothing = EVERYTHING
3 Nails + 1 Cross = 4GIVEN
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Helen (Louise) Allen Fisher; her husband, James F. Fisher; son, David Maurice Chance, his wife, Jill (Spidel) Chance, and their daughters, Nicole (Chance) Hall, her husband, Jonathan, and Jenna Chance; and her daughter, Christine (Chance) Heald, her husband, Brett Heald, and their daughter, Andrea Heald.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2015 by her husband, Ronald Eugene Chance, Ph.D.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services at 2 p.m., on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield
Please join us in Carolyn’s celebration of a new life in Heaven!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Church, 14550 River Road, Carmel, IN 46033.
