Mr. Basketball: It’s time to support the arts, Carmel Symphony Orchestra

Dave Shepherd

Editor’s note: The following message is from Dave Shepherd, who serves as the 2020-2021 Honorary Campaign Chair for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO). Shepherd was an Indiana Hall of Famer and Mr. Basketball in 1970.

I have always been known as an athlete and businessman, not necessarily as a man of the arts, but I do believe passionately that the arts are very important to our community. Now is the time for us to support the CSO and teach our children and grandchildren, our younger generation, about the role the arts can and should play in our lives. Will you join me and become either a Pledge Patron or a Pledge Partner with a recurring gift over the next year?

Funding the Future Together

Even in pandemic, the Orchestra has creatively and appropriately navigated circumstances to respond to restricted live audience size and even the number of musicians who might safely play together. Sally and I are proud of their resilience and continued commitment in the most challenging of circumstances to continue bringing excellent music to our community.

At the same time, the Orchestra needs support from families and households like yours and ours to thrive and prepare for a great 2021 with first class music making and creative leadership. I urge you to join me and commit to being a part of ‘Funding the Future Together’ with your monthly gift.

As an additional incentive, a generous and enthusiastic supporter of the CSO and friend of this community will match your gift, up to $50,000. It’s this kind of leadership that makes our city exceptional and you can double your impact by making that gift of support today.

Join Dave and his wife Sally and join other Carmel-minded folks in Pledge 45 by clicking here.

About the Carmel Symphony Orchestra

Believing that music has the power to change lives, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is the 80-member Resident Orchestra at The Palladium at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel. Founded in 1975, the CSO is comprised of professional and passionate musicians. The orchestra performs concerts featuring an eclectic repertoire of some of the world’s greatest symphonic music. The CSO is committed to enhancing the community’s quality of life through creative, artistically excellent performances, and educational experiences for diverse audiences of all ages. Janna Hymes became the organization’s Artistic Director in July 2017.
