Motorcycle/tow truck crash at U.S. 31 & 226th Street leaves one man dead

At approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of southbound U.S. 31 and 226th Street. The crash resulted in one fatality.

A motorcyclist was traveling southbound on U.S. 31. When a black 2019 Freightliner M2 tow truck was northbound on U.S. 31 in the left turn lane near 226th Street. The tow truck proceeded to make the left turn to go west.

According to a witness, the black 2001 Yamaha YZFR6 motorcycle was southbound and passed a vehicle at high speed. Subsequently, the motorcycle collided with the back right side of the tow truck.

The driver of the motorcycle, Braden Fesler, 22, Colfax, Ind., was pronounced dead at the scene.
