Eddie Moore officially filed his candidacy for Hamilton County Sheriff today, Friday, Jan. 19. Eddie has been a Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy since 1987. He received his B.A. from Anderson University and began his profession and passion of serving the community immediately upon graduation.

His experience with the agency is both vast and deep as he has been assigned in all divisions of the agency. This includes leadership positions in patrol, the jail as both Assistant Jail Commander and Jail Commander and in administration as public information officer, Professional Development and as the agency’s first DARE officer. The latter covering 10 years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Maria Goretti, Orchard Park Elementary and Sheridan Schools. Currently he serves in patrol as night shift B Commander with the rank of lieutenant. He is also a certified law enforcement trainer in a wide array of subjects to include leadership ethics and leadership development.

Eddie successfully completed Northcentral University’s graduate program earning the M.Ed. degree specializing in Organizational Leadership in 2014. This academic preparation combined with nearly 31 years of law enforcement experience provides unique qualifications unmatched by other candidates, to work along-side members of the community and law enforcement to train and provide the best law enforcement practices based upon research and industry standards.

As the next Hamilton County Sheriff, Eddie plans to provide servant-leadership by building a culture of leaders throughout the organization from the newest employee to the CEO who will model what the law enforcement Code of Ethics states in its first sentence: “The paramount duty of a law enforcement officer is to serve.” The elected Sheriff should be held to this above all others and he will strive to uphold this.

Hamilton County is a wonderful place to live and one of the many reasons is the excellent law enforcement agencies throughout the county. Eddie intends to lead the Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the other Chiefs of Police so they can continue to keep the whole county as safe as possible. This cannot be done without residents, business leaders, civic organizations, the faith community and such also working together. Eddie believes officers should be hired, trained and held accountable to the highest character traits and, along with his current team he proudly serves with, have formally agreed to hold each other accountable to a “Code of Honor” based upon values and vision of what they should be as well as the agency.

Eddie is married to Brenda Moore after meeting at Anderson University and they have three adult children Dani, Caleb and Cody Silas and a 10-year-old, Micah. Brenda is a Human Resource professional at Johnson Controls. They have lived in Noblesville and currently live in Fishers. Eddie and Brenda have attended Trinity Church for 28 years and are followers of Jesus.
