Noblesville’s boys toughed out a Hoosier Crossroads Conference win on Friday, beating Zionsville 48-45 in overtime Friday at The Mill.

It was the first conference win of the season for the Millers, and Noblesville coach Scott McClelland said his team “showed some resiliency and toughness tonight” for its fourth straight victory.

“Proud of the kids tonight,” said McClellan. “It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t our prettiest game. I think it was a game we can learn a lot from.”

The contest was close the entire way. Noblesville finished the first quarter in a 5-5 tie with the Eagles, with Adam Fine hitting a 3-pointer and Aiden Brewer making a basket.

Baron Walker helped out the Millers in the second quarter, scoring seven points. The Millers held a 20-18 lead at halftime, with Ryan Vetor scoring four off the bench. Zionsville led 31-30 after three quarters, but Noblesville tied the game at 41-41 by the end of regulation. T.J. Davidson scored six in the second half.

Davidson got the first basket of the extra period. The Eagles tied it with a pair of free throws, but Brewer answered that with a layin and Noblesville held the lead from there. Fine made a free throw with 1:58 left, and Brewer clinched the game with two free throws at the 1:07 mark.

“We got contributions from several kids,” said McClelland. “Ryan Vetor gave us nice minutes tonight. I thought AB (Brewer) played well.”

Brewer was the leading scorer for the Millers with 12 points, while Davidson and Walker both scored 10. Brewer collected six rebounds, followed by Walker with five; Walker also dished out four assists.

Noblesville is 1-2 in conference play and 9-4 overall. The Millers’ next game is Wednesday at Park Tudor.
