NOBLESVILLE – The Westfield girls soccer team traveled to Noblesville’s Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex on Wednesday for a battle between two Class 3A top five teams.
The No. 2 Millers played to a 1-1 tie with the No. 4 Shamrocks in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Westfield scored the first goal in the 10th minute when Kate Malin kicked the ball into the net from inside the box.
“I thought we played really well,” said Shamrocks coach Hannah Eggert. “I thought we came out with a lot of energy and we had a lot of opportunities early on. We were connecting passes well and I thought we kind of dominated the first half of that game.”

Noblesville tied it up during the game’s 50th minute, or the 10th minute of the second half. Atley Pittman put in a corner kick that bounced to Meredith Tippner. She sent it to freshman Brooklyn Gibbons, who put it into the net for the equalizer.
Both teams played intense during the remaining 30 minutes of the game, and both teams had their defenses working as well. Millers goalkeeper Bella Wyatt stopped a Westfield goal with six minutes left, deflecting away a Shamrocks kick towards the center of the net.
“It’s good to be challenged early,” said Noblesville coach Mike Brady. “Westfield’s a really good team. We needed that. So, it was good to see us come back. Now we got to find that next gear to win those games.”
The Millers are 2-0-2 in HCC play and 6-0-2 overall, while the Rocks are 2-1-1 in the league and 6-1-2 overall. Westfield hosts North Central at 7 p.m. tonight, while Noblesville welcomes Harrison Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. game.

Noblesville got a pair of victories at last weekend’s Paul Loggan Invitational at North Central.
Wyatt
The Millers beat Fort Wayne Canterbury 8-0 last Friday in their first game. Delaney Stone put in three goals, Lily Ault scored two, and Katelyn Keenan, Kaydence Fleck and Sophie Hedges all had one goal. Meredith Tippner dished out three assists, with Atley Pittman, Sam Addison and Ault all making one.
Noblesville rolled past Warsaw 5-1 last Saturday. Five different Millers scored goals: Stone, Sadie Black, Ault, Tippner and Isabelle Meier. Stone also made three assists, followed by one each for Finley Polk and Pittman.

Hamilton Southeastern was also a double winner at the Paul Loggan Invitational.
The Royals beat Plainfield 1-0 last Friday; Cole Lance scored the goal for Southeastern. The Royals followed that with a 4-0 victory over North Central last Saturday. Blair Satterfield put in two goals, with Sloane May and Lauren Kutoloski both scoring one. Lance made three assists and Kate Noel had one.

Westfield beat Pendleton Heights 3-0 last Saturday.
Abby Foulk, Reese Sargent and Kate Malin all scored goals for the Shamrocks, with Aryana Ali and Sargent each making one assist.

Hamilton Heights beat Tipton 2-0 Tuesday in a Hoosier Conference game.
Sarah Toll scored one of the Huskies’ goals, with Natalie Marcum making the assist. Marcum scored one goal unassisted. Goalkeeper Audrey Lang made five saves.
Heights is 3-0 in conference play and 5-1-2 overall. The Huskies play travel to Kokomo tonight for a 7 p.m. game.

University edged out Northwestern 3-2 on Tuesday.
Bella Miller Krigger, Lia Stennis and Mack Feeney all scored one goal for the Trailblazers. Goalkeeper Annie Ingersoll had 11 saves.
University is 3-3 and play Saturday afternoon at Hauser.

Carmel played two games last weekend.
First, the Greyhounds hosted Mishawaka Marian last Friday, with that contest finishing in a 1-1 tie. Emma Ehret scored Carmel’s goal, assisted by Kate Klinginsmith.
The Hounds traveled to Park Hills, Ky. last Saturday to play Notre Dame Academy and fell 2-1. Olivia Cebalo scored the goal, with Ehret assisting.
Carmel returned home on Wednesday to play Penn, winning 4-1. Vaughn Rohrbacher scored the first goal, off a Cebalo assist. The Kingsmen tied the game, but Cebalo put the Greyhounds ahead for good by scoring with five minutes left in the first half. Halle Wellman made the assist.
Wellman scored before halftime off an Ehret assist to give Carmel a 3-1 lead, then added another goal with six minutes left in the game. Annie Keleher assisted that goal.
The Greyhounds are 7-2-1 and play Saturday at Chesterton.

Sheridan dropped both of its games at the Paul Loggan Invitational but rebounded early this week for a big Hoosier Heartland Conference win.
The Blackhawks fell to Warsaw 2-0 last Friday and Fort Wayne Canterbury 2-0 last Saturday. Warsaw is a Class 3A school, while Canterbury is ranked in the top 20 in 2A.
Sheridan, ranked No. 11 in 1A this week, blasted past conference opponent Tri-Central 10-0 on Monday in its league opener. Freshman Avery Hills and sophomore Sadie Timme both scored three goals. Cecilia Timme added two goals, with Abby Dallas and Brielle Garner both scoring one. Cecilia Timme made two assists, followed by one each for Hills and Dallas.
The Blackhawks are 6-2 and host 1A No. 1 Heritage Christian at 6 p.m. tonight.
