Noblesville got an easy 11-2 win over New Castle Tuesday at Don Dunker Field.
The Millers scored three runs in the first inning. Cade Nelis sent a home run over the center field fence, also scoring Cole Barnes and Matt Peek. Noblesville added four runs in the third inning, with Cooper Miles getting home on a wild pitch, then Nelis doubled in DJ Owens. Brady Walden was next, and he hit a two-run homer to left field.
Camden Nagel scored in the fourth inning after Peek drew a bases-loaded walk. In the fifth inning, Zach Gruver tripled home Walden, then later stole home plate. Miles batted in Nagel to complete the scoring.
Walden and Gruver were both 3-for-4 at the plate, with Miles and Nelis each getting two hits. Nelis totaled four RBIs. Jared Crandall pitched four innings for the win, tossing five strikeouts.
“Cade Nelis had a good day at the plate,” said Millers coach Justin Keever. “Zach Gruver and some other guys, good at bats. Brady Walden had a good day at the plate. I think our challenge is we need to play at a level all the time and not chase the scoreboard and just play the way we train to play.”
Noblesville is 7-6 and will host Franklin Central at 6 p.m. tonight to begin a Hoosier Crossroads Conference series. The game was moved up due to Thursday because of predicted bad weather.
