In recent seasons, it has become more of a physical affair with Lawrence North and Noblesville. The Wildcats had won 12 of the 17 meetings coming into Saturday’s game, but the tide has changed in recent seasons.
It was no different on Saturday night at The Mill as the host Millers were able to get their third straight win in the series with a 50-43 win over the Wildcats.
LN got off to a 4-0 lead early, but Noblesville came right back and went on a run to tie it 6-6. The Millers got consecutive buckets from Kaitlyn Shoemaker and Reagan Wilson for a 10-6 edge. The Wildcats closed the gap to 10-9 through one.
The Millers took the second 18-13 to make the score 28-23 at halftime, all while getting outrebounded 41-31 for the game, but that didn’t deter them.
Each would score 10 in the third, keeping the Miller lead at five, 38-33. Ava Shoemaker accounted for five of the 10 and more importantly knocked down a key three-pointer from the left corner for 33-26. Ava’s free throw would then give them their biggest lead of the night at 34-26, but obviously the Wildcats didn’t go away easily.
Forcing big LN turnovers in the fourth helped propel the Millers to a home win 50-43 over Lawrence North for a weekend sweep.
Ava Shoemaker (seven rebounds) and Meredith Tippner each scored 14 and Reagan Wilson (four assists) joined them in double-digits with 12. Tippner notched her third double-double in as many games this season with 10 rebounds.
Noblesville (3-0) plays again on Friday at Brownsburg (2-2) and hosts No. 7 Homestead (3-0) on Saturday, Nov. 19.
