Millers let loose at Lucas Oil & take down Mount Vernon

The Noblesville football team let its offense loose at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday night, and that led to a 48-30 win over Mount Vernon in the Millers’ season-opening game.

Noblesville led 28-8 at halftime. Millers coach Dave Sharpe said his team was “comfortably ahead by three scores the entire game.” That included touchdowns from Aiden Brewer and Logan Shoffner.

“(Quarterback) Jacob Baker threw some beautiful passes tonight,” said Sharpe.

Baker again stepped up for Noblesville in the second half, making a 64-yard pass to Max Miller. Shoffner then put the game on ice in the fourth quarter, making two big touchdown runs for Noblesville.

Shoffner finished the game with 232 yards rushing, while Baker’s three passes totaled 186 yards. Sharpe also credited the defense with playing well, saying that “Austin Hastings seemingly had a million tackles.”

The Millers play Homestead next Friday in their home opener.
