Millers fall to No. 1 Avon, 37-13

Noblesville had to face the No. 1 team in Indiana on Friday, making a trip to Avon for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
The Orioles were undefeated at the start of the game, and were undefeated at the end, beating the Millers 37-13. But Noblesville hung in there, and provided some exciting moments in the third quarter.
Trailing 20-0, the Millers got on the board with seven and a half minutes left when Jayden Barrett caught a 30-yard pass from Alex Zavac. Grayden Addison made the extra-point kick, cutting Avon’s lead to 20-7.
The Orioles scored with under three minutes to go to get back up 27-7. But Barrett struck again, catching the kickoff deep in Noblesville territory and running 92 yards to score another touchdown. That kept the Millers within 27-13 at the end of three quarters. But Avon added 10 more points in the fourth to complete its perfect HCC (7-0) and regular season (9-0).
Zavac finished the game 4-of-10 with 60 yards passing, and also led the rushing with 29 yards. Carson Sanders had three catches.
Noblesville finished 1-6 in HCC play and 1-8 for the regular season. The Millers are off next week, then host Homestead on Nov. 1 in Sectional 3 play.
