On Friday night, Noblesville headed to Brownsburg to attempt to sweep their Hoosier Crossroads Conference series with the Bulldogs. Noblesville would be down early, but a big second inning propelled the Millers to a 5-3 win.
The host Bulldogs had other things in mind from the first pitch. Joe Glander gave up a pair of singles, two walks and hit two batters and as a result, Brownsburg was up 3-0 after the first inning.
That would only fuel the Millers. McCoy Fulk walked to lead off the second and Blake Widget did the same with one down. Fulk got the first run on the board, scoring on a passed ball. Brady Bishop doubled to left to score Widget to cut it to 3-2.
Trevor Corbett repeated with a double of his own, driving Bishop in to tie it 3-3. Nolan Decker gave the Millers the lead with a grounder to short, sending Corbett home for a 4-3 edge.
Glander led off the top of the fifth, taking a 2-0 pitch over the left field fence for a solo home run. That wound up being the final score of 5-3.
Quinton Black relieved Glander with no outs in the first after Glander gave up three earned runs on two hits and two walks.
Black (2-1) would be credited with seven solid innings the rest of the way to earn the win on the mound. The senior righty struck out a career-high 10 hitters and walked just two while scattering four hits.
The series sweep of Brownsburg (5-14, 1-11 HCC) gives the Millers at least a share of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference title. The final two HCC games are next week against Zionsville. The Eagles sit at 10-2 in league play.
Noblesville (20-3, 12-0 HCC) has won 10 games in a row. The Millers host Carmel (11-9) on Monday in an all-county game in the White River Rivalry for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
