Noblesville finished up Hoosier Crossroads Conference play with a hard-fought 57-55 victory over Avon Friday at The Mill.
The Millers jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the first quarter, with six different players scoring points for Noblesville. The Orioles came back in the second quarter, taking a 26-24 advantage into halftime. The Millers responded with 22 points in the third period for a 46-41 lead; Luke Almodovar scored eight points during that quarter and Preston Roberts added six.
Avon made another push in the fourth quarter, but the Millers held them off. Almodovar helped out by scoring another seven points, making a 3-pointer and going 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in that period.
Almodovar finished the game with 21 points. E.J. Smith added 12 points, including four in the fourth quarter.
Noblesville completed its HCC season with a 4-3 record and in a three-way tie for second place with Zionsville and Brownsburg. Overall, the Millers are 11-9 and they will host Bishop Luers in a Monday afternoon game.
