Miller gymnasts win regular-season finale

The Noblesville gymnastics team won its final regular-season meet, beating Scecina and Marion Monday at Noblesville East Middle School.
The Millers scored 98.65, well ahead of Scecina’s 87.55 and Marion’s 81.95. Noblesville had four of the top six finishers in the all-around, led by Makayla Kauzlick’s 34.75. All four Miller gymnasts – Kauzlick, Devyn Palmer and Grace Kwiatkoswki – scored above 31 points.
Kauzlick won three of the four individual events, taking the vault with a 9.00, the highest Noblesville score of the night.
“Makayla was able to perform her flipping tuck vault and was able to come up in her vault score from the previous competition, which is what we need to see as we are preparing for sectionals next weekend,” said Millers coach Jody Ramey.
Kauzlick also won the uneven bars and balance beam. Devyn Palmer finished first in the floor exercise; the Millers had five of the top six gymnasts on floor.
“We were able to produce a team floor score of 24.825 which is very close to where I would like our team to be for sectionals,” said Ramey. The Millers’ goal is to produce a score of 25 or higher on floor, which Ramey said her team is very capable of doing.
Noblesville will travel to Lafayette Jefferson on Saturday to compete at the sectional. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
“We are excited as we will focus on our strengths this week throughout our practices to see what this next weekend at sectionals has in store for our team,” said Ramey. “We will continue to improve our routines this week so we can be one of the three teams that advance out to regionals.”
