Families from across central Indiana are invited to attend the inaugural Indianapolis Children’s Business Fair on Saturday, May 20. The event will be outside the College Park Ministry Center, 3600 W. 96th St., Indianapolis. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
During the event, about 75 young entrepreneurs will showcase their unique businesses to customers in the community. This one-day marketplace is the culmination of several weeks’ worth of planning and developing a marketing strategy and creating products by each of the young business owners. The children are responsible for the setup, sales, and interacting with customers during the event.
The participating children attend different schools from across the Greater Indianapolis area. The event is intended to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in young people while giving them an authentic experience building a business. Families can still register their children to participate at this link. The deadline to register is Wednesday, May 13.
The event is sponsored by Acton Academy, the Acton Next Great Adventure, and the generous support of sponsors and volunteers, who all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.
“Children are innate entrepreneurs,” said Liz Collar, Acton Academy Head of School. “This is a great opportunity for them to launch their own business and get some valuable experience marketing and selling to the public … all while having a blast! We’re looking forward to growing this event for many years to come.”
While the focus is on showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit of the students involved, there is also a $50 cash prize available in multiple age groups for “Most Business Potential,” “Most Creative Idea,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.”
