September 20, 1965 – February 21, 2018
Matthew Scott Boyd, 52, Churubusco, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 20, 1965, the third of four children, to Jim and Sharon (Heller) Boyd in Lawrenceburg, Ind.
Matt graduated from Batesville High School, class of 1983; and from Hanover College, class of 1987, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and played on the football and golf teams.
Matt was an avid sports enthusiast who played throughout his life. His greatest joy was supporting his children in their endeavors, most recently, his son, Cameron’s, baseball career at IPFW. Matt was a life-long Cincinnati Bengals fan and enjoyed cheering them on every Sunday in the fall. He loved going pheasant hunting with his dogs, country music, evenings on the lake and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Matt will lovingly be remembered by his family as our “fearless leader.” His courage, strength, spontaneity and love of life will be missed dearly.
Matt is survived by his parents, Jim and Sharon Boyd; high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years, Piper (Perdue) Boyd; their daughter, Madison; sons, Chandler and Cameron Boyd; three grandchildren, Miles, Brooks and Jocelyn; and siblings, Kathi (Boyd) Ray, Tim Boyd and Molly Boyd.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Friends and family are welcome to remember and celebrate Matt’s life immediately following the visitation at the Fishers American Legion, 9091 E. 126th St., Fishers, IN 46038.
