Matt McNally, Navy pilot veteran and candidate for Statehouse in 2022, announced on Thursday his intention to run for a second time for Indiana House District 39 in 2024.
“I am running for State Representative for the same reasons that I joined the military: to help safeguard the freedoms we all enjoy as Hoosiers and Americans,” McNally said.
McNally is currently serving as the Senior Vice Commander of the local VFW Post 10003, which serves veterans throughout Carmel, Fishers, and Westfield.
“When I first ran for State Representative in 2022, my campaign engaged with more than 30,000 members of our community. When we spoke to those voters, we learned what our friends and neighbors really value: freedom,” McNally said. “The residents of Carmel and Westfield want the freedom to live the American Dream: start a small business, buy their first home, and see their children get the best possible education.”
McNally added, “After two decades of supermajority rule, I believe decision makers at our state capitol have embraced extreme policies that are out of step with our Carmel and Westfield communities. I believe our friends and neighbors want our elected representation to put policies in place that allow them and their families the freedom to thrive.”
McNally is a passenger airline pilot and a resident of Westfield. He has deep roots in the community – his son graduates from Westfield High School next week and his daughter will be a sophomore there in the fall. McNally has been recently elected to the board of the Westfield Kiwanis Club, an organization whose mission is to uplift all children and families in the Westfield community.
“This community has given my family so much,” McNally said. “My children have received an excellent education from our public schools and my father and mother have had a wonderful retirement here, enjoying the many things that Hamilton County has to offer. I am excited to have the opportunity to prove to voters in Hamilton County that I am ready to start working together for Indiana.”
