Mary Power

June 20, 1950 – February 5, 2021

Mary Power passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mary was born on June 20, 1950, to Walter and May Howard, and is survived by her son, Sam James; her brother, Michael Howard (Deborah); and sister, Susan Jeffrey (Andy).

Mary was a 1968 graduate of Carmel High School and a graduate of Indiana University. Mary served faithfully as a teacher at the Indiana School for the Deaf for 35 years and headed the work program at the School in her later years. Mary was a devoted mother. She enjoyed the outdoors and living in her lake cottage on Princess Lake.

There will be no services held at this time, but Mary’s family anticipates having a Celebration of Life later in the year.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Superintendent, Indiana School for the Deaf, 1200 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46205. All contributions will be deposited into the Student Recreation Fund to assist with programs at the school.
