Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Maack

April 18, 1956 – December 7, 2024

Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Maack, 68, Noblesville, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully left our world on December 7, 2024, after a life richly lived and full of love.

She was born on April 18, 1956, in Canandaigua, N.Y., to Donald and Elizabeth Curtin Thannert. She was one of six children in a close-knit family, who, despite the physical miles that separate them, still remain extremely close today.

Mary Beth grew up in Fort Madison, Iowa, graduated from Fort Madison High School, Community College of the Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, and Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. Shortly after graduating from college, she met the man who would become her life partner.

Greg W. Maack and Mary Beth were married on Sept. 12, 1980, and they moved to his hometown of Fergus Falls, Minn. After spending several years in Minnesota, they moved back to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where their daughter, Molly, was born. The three of them had many adventures together, including lots of moves. Greg’s job took them back to Minnesota, farther north to Calgary, Canada, and finally landed them in Noblesville.

Mary Beth loved anything having to do with home and family life. She turned every house where they lived into a loving home for the three of them. She loved and had a gift for decorating her homes and was often called upon to help her siblings with decorating ideas. Those she loved were often the recipients of the latest craft and sewing projects she conjured up. Her recipe book overflowed with new treats and meal ideas. She was also an avid gardener and completed Iowa’s Master Gardener program. Every spring she revamped or dreamed up new gardens for her yard.

In retirement, she and Greg were excited to travel, visiting family and friends around the country as well as seeking out historical sites and new hiking trails. But most of all, Mary Beth and Greg loved spending time with their daughter and son-in-law and their four grandchildren.

Mary Beth is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Tim Dury; four grandchildren, Leonard, Donald, Mack, and Elizabeth (Betty); one brother, Joe Thannert of Burkburnett, Texas; four sisters, Lucinda (Willie) Ward and Deb (Dan) Fullenkamp of West Point, Iowa; Jennifer (John) Holtkamp of Springfield, Ill.; and Nancy (Ray) Dodson of Plover, Wis.; in-laws, Paul and Marylou Maack of Alexandria, Minn., and Wyonne Maack Long of Hosle, Norway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 E. 191st St., Noblesville, with Rev. Clayton Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
