Marlin L. Moore

July 1, 1950 – October 27, 2022

Marlin L. Moore, 72, of rural Arcadia, passed away October 27, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born July 1, 1950, in Lewisburg, Pa., to Blaine and Madeline (Weaver) Moore.

He married Beverly Jean (Leggett) Moore on July 6, 1968, and they were blessed with a son, Kevin (Laurie Faust) Moore of Atlanta, and two daughters, Julia (Caleb) Koons of Centerville, Ind., and Jennifer (Lee) Templeton of Tipton, Ind. He was also survived by a sister, Wanita (Clayton) Mowery of Mifflinburg, Pa.; plus the following grandchildren, Blake, Cameron, Haley, Ethan, Madeline, Wade, Benjamin, Joel, and Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Delilah, Skyla, Felicity, Wolfe, Morgiana, Somali, and Everett, who will arrive in December.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Claire Moore, Thomas Moore, Gerald Moore; and his stepmother, Grace Moore.

Marlin was employed for several years at Carmel Schools where he was instrumental in keeping the buildings in good repair and all systems running. He also operated a small farm with his family that included riding horses, cattle, chickens, goats, ducks, and rabbits. Additionally, he was a bee keeper and gardener. Eggs and excess produce from his garden were given to friends and neighbors. His family said he was a good cook and looked forward to their family gatherings where he was the master chef. He also enjoyed telling a joke or a good story; in fact, he usually began laughing before he could deliver the punch line.

Marlin was a man of many talents and could fix or build most anything. He built the home that he and his family lived in, and he built many items for children who were residents in nursing homes. During severe weather he would make sure his neighbors were well and had food and utilities that were working. As a result, he was given a Good Neighbor Award.

He was a member of The Tipton Nazarene Church and the Hamilton County Civil Defense Organization.

Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel is entrusted with Marlin’s care. You may send condolences at hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
