Mark F. Hall responds to Steve Schwartz

Dear Editor:

I am writing in direct reply to my opponent’s “case for Council” published on March 28 where he poses the question asking what I have done in the last 180 months. I am not accustomed to talking about the civic and charitable things in my life. But since he asked, here you go. In the last 180 months here is what “I’ve been doing”:

  • Launched and run “Feeding Families” charity, which provides groceries to indigent and impoverished neighbors in central Indiana. This year we’ve been blessed to help feed over 5,000 people that otherwise would go hungry. tlxcorp.com/feeding-families
  • Serving as a founding board member and President of Freedom International School (501c3) which feeds and educates over 260 children in the Dominican Republic. itisforfreedom.com
  • Serve as Board member and facilitator for Truth at Work (501c3) a 600-member Christian Executive Roundtable Leadership organization that serves tens of thousands of employees right here in Central Indiana. truthatwork.org
  • Teaching “Jobs for Life” classes to inmates from the Duvall Residential Center and local second chance young adults. indy.gov/eGov/County/Corrections/Services/Residential/Pages/duvall-res-facility.aspx
  • Teaching Sunday school, serving in choir and worship teams at Harbour Shores Church. harbourshores.org
  • Coached Softball for hundreds of Hamilton County children. As the first 18U Shockwaves head coach. I had the opportunity to serve many families; teach, train and help them get college scholarships for their children.
  • Appeared in the Hamilton County Passion Play, Behold the Lamb for 14 of the last 15 years. Presenting the Easter message to over 6,000 people annually.
  • Volunteer Softball Coach at IUPUI for three years.

Additionally, and on the business front – in the last 180 months I’ve started five new companies, made 774 Friday payrolls, employed thousands of Hoosiers, signed the front of thousands of paychecks and provided health benefits to hundreds of our neighbors.

I am not a special man. I simply seek to serve the people in a new and different way. This election is a choice of whom the people of District 3 want to serve them. I applaud my opponent’s service. I applaud the service of the other long-term office holders too. I simply believe that it’s beyond time for a fresh set of eyes to represent us at the council.

So, thank you for asking the question. I am happy to stake my last 180 months side by side and let the people choose who is best to serve them.

Mark F. Hall

Hamilton County Council Candidate

Mark Hall has a huge heart for serving others. I observe him every day as an employee and he believes to his core in helping others less fortunate and being fiscally responsible and a good steward of money.

For 25 years Mark has operated a strong business and along the way, he has mentored people to help them grow, employed people to help improve their lives, loved his wife and family as instructed by the Word, and remains humble in his pursuit to be a light in others lives. He is not a politician. He is a man of wisdom defined by experience, success and even a bit of failure. All of these experiences have built him to be the man he is today. He will be a great councilman for Hamilton County. And you will be glad you voted for him when you look back on what he has accomplished for all citizens of Hamilton County during the next election cycle.
