Marion Jeannene Finley, 87, Carmel, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis. She was born on September 17, 1937, to Carl Glenn and Dixie (Jarvis) Finley in Valley Fork, W.V.
Jeannene was a real estate agent for many years and a member of Carmel United Methodist Church. In high school, she was a majorette in the marching band and Salutatorian of her graduating class. Jeannene sang in the church choir while at Cedar Grove WV Methodist Church. She was a long time Cub Scout den mother for her three sons and held leadership positions in central Indiana Scouting. She loved to mentor and teach children and was for many years a Sunday school teacher, and tutored immigrant children to read and write English. She was a life-long avid reader and had a broad range of literary interests. Jeannene enjoyed math puzzles, crossword puzzles, and playing cards, especially “May I,” a family favorite game played by many generations of her family at their cottage in Macatawa, Mich. Most of all she loved her children and five granddaughters and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Estabrook Foltz, Neil (Nancy) Estabrook, III, Ross (Melissa) Estabrook, and Thomas (Monika) Estabrook; grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, Claire, Jessica, and Sophie; and brother, Richard (Rosemary) Finley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sondra Farlow; infant brother, Charles Ray Finley; and son-in-law, Howard “Buzz” Foltz.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to the time of service at the funeral home.
