Marie was a graduate of Tipton High School in the Class of 1960. She then graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church where she was the leader of the Women’s Fellowship Group. Marie was also grateful for all of the support from friends at East Union Christian Church. In her free time, and after retiring, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting, and she loved to work outside in the yard. She loved watching both IU and Purdue sporting events. Marie loved to travel and spend time with her dog Heidi.
Marie is survived by her sister, Mary Illges, and a large circle of family and friends who have helped them both throughout the years.
The funeral for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastors JR Moffatt and Mark Knapp presiding. The Nursing Honor Guard Serving North Central Indiana will have a memorial service honoring Marie at the beginning of the funeral. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Hamilton County.
