Many new faces for the Huskies this year

It will definitely be a new-look football team for Hamilton Heights when it takes to the field tonight.
The Huskies saw a strong senior class graduate last fall, and only return four starters from each side of the ball. But, Heights coach Mitch Street said there are 20 seniors returning, so many of them will get their chance to show what they can do.
The returners include senior Troy Bergesen, who will be on the offensive line as right tackle. Bergesen is capable of playing both ways; in fact, he made 50 tackles last season for Heights.
“Troy Bergesen is a guy who started both ways for us for the last two years,” said Street.
Another lineman returning is Noah Souder, who will play right guard on offense and tackle on defense. Hunter Wiles is slated for the left tackle on offense, but Street noted that he played a “pretty good amount” on the defense as well.
Also back are Luke Herr and Michael Cross, and they will be going both ways as well. Herr will be under center on offense and playing anchor on defense, while Cross will take cornerback and wide receiver duties. Cross had seven catches last year for 103 yards.
After that, look for many newcomers. Heights plans to open with a sophomore at the quarterback position, Tyler Andis. Ike Hooper, a senior is in the fullback position.
“I think we have maybe less two way guys than we did last year, but there’ll be a lot of guys that are twos,” said Street, who calls it the “nature of a small school” that there are several two-way players on the team.
“But I think we’re playing a lot more guys this year than what we have in years past,” said Street. “A lot of guys in the mix.”
The Huskies open their season tonight at Mount Vernon for the third straight year. The Huskies have won the previous two contests.
