Maizie Monette Glover

November 28, 1929 – May 28, 2025

Maizie Monette Glover, 95, a lifelong resident of Noblesville, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Harbour Manor Care Center.

Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1929, she was the daughter of Broda and Aleatha (Winburn) White. On June 20, 1952, Maizie married her childhood friend and the love of her life, Wayne Herman Glover. Together, they were blessed to raise five children and celebrate 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.

A 1949 graduate of Noblesville High School, Maizie briefly lived in Chicago, working for Supreme Liberty Life Insurance Company, before returning home to Indiana. She was later employed by the Indiana State Board of Health, Communicable Disease Division. In 1953, following the birth of her first child, she transitioned to federal service and embarked on a 30-year career with the U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, ultimately retiring in 1989 as Secretary to the Director of Finance Network Quality. She received numerous commendations for excellence, including the prestigious Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. Known for her strong work ethic, Maizie believed firmly in doing things the “right” way.

Maizie was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Noblesville, where she served on the Stewardess Board. She was also a Trustee for many years of historic Roberts Settlement, and at the time of her passing, was the oldest known descendant.

Maizie had many passions throughout her life: traveling, gardening, genealogy, reading, crafts, and crossword puzzles. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. She found joy in listening to Elvis Presley and Nat King Cole and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune, especially if she had family to watch with. Above all, she treasured her family and family history, often reminding loved ones: “Don’t ever forget where you came from.”

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Lezli (Johnny) Davis, Marcia (Charles) Granger, Lizabeth (Michael) Wilson, and Bryan Glover; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dana Hughes; brother-in-law, Myron (Sandra) Glover; first cousin, Nora Fae White; son-in-law, Kenneth Hopper; dear friends, James Reed and Emma McKinney; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne; her daughter, Pamela Lynne Hopper; her parents, Broda and Aleatha White; her sister, Marcia Sylvia White; and her brothers, Doyle Maurice White, Charles “Murphy” White, Bobby Carl White, Norman Keith White, Kent Myron White, and Roland Lee White.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who touched Maizie’s life with compassion and kindness. We are also deeply grateful for the many prayers, cards, calls, texts, social media posts, and acts of support received from the community. Your expressions of care have brought great comfort.
