Madeline Teal earns $1K scholarship from Kiwanis Foundation

Madeline Teal, a senior at Hamilton Heights High School, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Indiana Kiwanis Foundation. Teal, fourth in her graduating class of 165, is the daughter of Tim and Deanna Teal of Atlanta.

Teal was selected from the applicants in the Sycamore South Division, which has nine clubs. Clubs that donated $5 per member to the Foundation are eligible to have members apply. There were 116 applicants from 125 of the 162 clubs from Indiana. Teal was among 23 to be selected for a scholarship.

A four-year member of the Hamilton Heights Key Club, Teal is also active in several other clubs including National Honor Society, Service with a Goal, Hamilton Heights Chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA), and Yearbook Club. In addition, she is a 10-year member of 4-H, nine-year member of her Church Choir and a part of the Behold the Lamb Ministries for the past eight years. She plans to attend Butler University to study Translation (Spanish, Chinese, French).

The Kiwanis Club of Cicero sponsors Hamilton Heights Key, Builders, and K-Kids Clubs.

“Madeline is a well-rounded young lady who is respected by teachers and peers,” said Bill Trachtman, Hamilton Heights High School Guidance Counselor, after hearing the news of this award. “She is extremely generous, always open, and willing to help people in need.”

“I appreciate the Indiana Kiwanis Foundation for giving me an opportunity to help the community throughout high school and for supporting me as I move on to college,” noted Teal.

About Cicero Kiwanis Club

Cicero Kiwanis Club is part of the Sycamore South Division of Indiana District of Kiwanis. Its members are volunteers committed to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Club provides scholarships to graduating High School students, grants for play and educational equipment, supports the local school corporation, local Boy and Girl Scouts, Riley Hospital for Children, and much more.
