Governor Eric Holcomb announced on Wednesday the creation of a 15-member commission to analyze Indiana’s public healthcare system. The commission will be co-chaired by former State Senator Luke Kenley, Noblesville, and former State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe.

The commission will review the structure and funding of Indiana’s public health system and its impact on healthcare, in addition to looking at ways to address disparities between races, large communities and rural areas.

Holcomb is expected to appoint the rest of the commission before its first meeting in September.  According to information released by Holcomb’s office, the remaining 12 members are to include three elected officials and nine health care professionals.

The commission is expected to release its finding next summer.
